Vision

Vision on Quality Assurance at European Christian Academy

At European Christian Academy all education processes depart from its vision on quality system. ECA focuses on quality assurance system where the attention is shifted towards open, student centered and applied research-based quality development. The vision provides overview of our quality vison by focusing on several key principles.

Key principles applied to education quality

  • Subsidiarity. Actions take place at the most appropriate level and the care for good education for those who make education as their everyday reality: students, teachers, experts, employers and Church representatives participating in the Study Program. Actions that do not fall in the competence of the Study Program and fall outside its scope, or require additional cooperation, are scaled up to another level.
  • Shared Ownership and appreciation of mutuality. It encourages to take responsibility for the quality of education and to assess it from various perspectives. In doing so, partners in Ownership are asked to present their choices in a transparent and argumented way.
  • External view into quality of education. External stakeholders are involved as critical friends on all study program levels who bring their view on the quality of the Program. They act as a sounding critical voice who are eligible to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of the Program.
  • All these principles are integrated within every level of the Academy, namely at the course level, the level of the Study Program and the Academy. For example, programs receive confidence to ensure that the quality of education is in line with Study Program requirements, Standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), and institutional Strategy of European Christian Academy.

How educational quality is managed at ECA

These principles give shape to actions, processes, practices, procedures and instruments that enable the Academy to provide for quality of the Study Program. We at ECA speak “Shared Ownership” or “own management”.

The vision is further shaped by the strategy of the culture of quality. The concept refers to institutional culture in general and is aimed at sustainable quality development. Students, teaching staff, staff members and external partners are “shared owners” who contribute to the quality of Study Programs at the Academy. It works for motivation and strong commitment, and the wish to make education at our Academy innovative, joyful, mutually agreed and as worthy as possible.
