Academic Quality Unit

Responsibility for determining the quality of education at ECA lies primarily at the level of the Study Program. The actual quality of education is assessed, adjusted and reinforced by the Study Program itself, the Study Program Action Plan, the quality characteristics, study program frameworks and also professional qualifications.

The Study Program director and Council of each Study Program are primary responsible for assessment that demonstrates actual education quality.

The assessment of educational quality is transparent and well-motivated in Senate meetings on which the internal and external factors are identified by the Academy-wide quality assurance processes.

Identifying problems and reduction of risks

ECA because of the Sharer Ownership concept has realized that teachers and staff are capable to identify and adjust in-time problems needed to be solved. They are used to act through the Study Department, Program Council and Senate. If the quality of the program cannot be adequately assured due to a problem, risk or something that requires action, the Study Department or program director initiates further steps aimed at reduction of the problem or risks.

The Academic Quality Unit follows up cases that pose a serious threat to the quality of studies, based on a set of quantitative and qualitive parameters gathered from students, teachers or employers. If risks or problems emerge, the Academic Quality Unit determines recovery plan for the aspects concerned. Also long-term guarantees for safeguarding educational quality must be envisaged.

The Academic Quality Unit can formulate an argumented request to the Rector and to Senate including the necessary evidences.

Duties and authorities

Responsibility for determining the quality of education at ECA lies primarily at the level of the Study Program. If the education quality is at risk, the directly involved members of the Academy will address these problems at the program level and make internal adjustments.

Risks will be reduced after analysis based on a set of quantitative and qualitative parameters. The Academy Quality Unit establishes a mandatory and time-bound recovery plan for the affected study program.

After the additional assessment of risk and taken following actions the Academic Quality Unit monitors the implementation of the recovery process and formulates a motivated proposal to continue or discontinue the Study program.

Risk Prevention and Mitigation Plan

European Christian Academy recognizes that part of good governance practice is the Risk Prevention and Mitigation Plan lūdzu ar linku uz nosūtīto dokumentu. It is implemented at all levels of the Academy’s management. The Plan forms an organizational structure for risk identification, prevention implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the quality of work. The two main elements of the Plan are the risk management policy, which defines the risk management mandate and the possibility of controlling it. The Plan describes detailed procedure for implementing this at the Academy.
